Construction

Avoider is now ready to have the front dome fitted. The yellow and blue wires attaching the LED to the PC board can clearly be seen.

The front dome in position. This has to be squeezed gently and fitted onto the rear dome.

The two motors can now be wired in
, making sure that the wiring diagram in the instruction manual is carefully followed, green to + and yellow to - on one motor and orange to + and blue to - on the second motor. The + terminal on the tops of the motors is clearly marked
.

The right-hand photograph shows the battery holder and battery snap ready for batteries (2x "AA" in the battery holder and 1x 9V connected to the battery snap).

The batteries are placed into the respective battery cradles, which can then be joined together by hooking the tab in the centre as can be seen in the left-hand photograph. (Avoider is seen upside down). In order for the battery cradle to close properly, the posts on the top and bottom of the battery box must be possitioned correctly as shown in the instruction manual.

The final step is to attach the ornamental caps over the leg joints, with the three larger caps attached to the top joints and the three smaller caps attached to the middle joints. these can clearly be seen in the right-hand photograph.

Avoider is now complete and ready for testing!

Should the Avoider robot not work correctly, please refer to the operating and troubleshooting pages in the installation manual, which indicates how to adjust the detectable range of the sensor and possible solutions for any other problems.

Have fun!!
