The amazing AIBO ERS-210 Entertainment Robot has the ability to communicate with the world around it through the senses of sight, sound and touch. Its truly unique "artificial intelligence" allows AIBO to decide how it is going to behave based on its instincts, its emotions and interactions with the people it meets.
AIBO has instincts, wanting to play with people, look for its favourite toy, move about, and satisfy its hunger (i.e., get recharged). When its needs are met, AIBO will show happiness. If you ignore its needs, however, it will show sadness or even anger.
AIBO will learn from praise and scolding. If you praise AIBO when it is playing with a ball it likes, it will like playing with the ball even more. Or if you repeatedly scold AIBO when it's looking at the ball, it will soon ignore the ball altogether.
AIBO has four sensors, which correspond to the senses of humans and animals - touch, hearing, sight and a sense of balance
AIBO senses the situation and surroundings of its environment, picking up nearby sound and words with its microphone ears. AIBO's eyes are light-emitting diodes (LEDs) arranged in three different configurations to express a variety of emotions.
Speak to AIBO and it will respond with musical tones imitating the sounds of your words with electronic tones (AIBO's "tonal language").
Your AIBO is even able to recognise and respond to a given name
