Pneumatic
Actuators -
A complete range
of actuators and components to allow the assembly of robot pneumatic
systems
AIR
MUSCLE
The Airmuscle
is a recent development of the McKibbon actuator.
Its principle of operation is that of an inflatable tube inside
a braided sheath - as pressure is applied the tube inflates and
fattens, pushing out the sides of the braided sheath which in turn
pulls its ends in, thus getting shorter
The resulting
contraction is done with a force which can be used for motive power.
The Air Muscle is relatively low air pressure device requiring
a maximum of 6 bar (approx 90 psi) to produce full contraction
